St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t have to be elaborate to be magical.
In our house, it’s all about creating a little moment—something that makes the kids light up, laugh, and feel like the day is special without requiring a week of prep or a trip to five different stores.
This year, our favorite tradition is a leprechaun scavenger hunt that ends with a “pot of gold” drink surprise. It’s easy, hilarious, and guaranteed to make memories.
You can get all the supplies here.
Meet Our Leprechaun

Every year, a friendly little leprechaun visits our house. You can name yours anything, but here are some fun options:
🍀 Lucky Lou
🍀 Finnegan O’Fizz
🍀 Seamus Sparklefoot
🍀 Paddy Puddles
🍀 Clover McGiggles
Our leprechaun leaves a letter explaining that he’s been hopping around the house and left clues for the kids to follow. He’s mischievous, silly, and definitely responsible for a little magic.
Start With a Letter
This sets the tone for the whole day. Keep it simple and silly.
Example:
Hello, friends!I’m Lucky Lou the Leprechaun, and I’ve been sneaking around your house all night long! I left you some clues, a little mischief, and a surprise at the end of my trail. If you want to find my pot of gold, you’ll have to follow the clues carefully!
Good luck—and don’t forget to laugh along the way!🍀 Lucky Lou
The Scavenger Hunt
This is the heart of the fun—and it’s so easy.
You’ll hide simple clues around the house that lead from one spot to the next. Keep them short, rhymey, and obvious. The goal is fun, not frustration.
Sample Clues:
🍞 Kitchen / Toaster:“This is where bread becomes toast, warm and yummy, not a ghost!”
🛁 Bathroom:“Look where you go to get squeaky clean, with bubbles and towels and lots of sheen!”
🛋️ Couch:“Find where you cuddle, relax, and play, and maybe take a nap during the day!”
🧺 Laundry Room:“I spin and I spin, your clothes come out clean—no socks go missing, if you know what I mean!”
📚 Bookshelf:“Where stories are told and adventures begin, look for your next clue tucked right in!”
At the end, they find the pot of gold—aka the fun drink activity!
