A Simple & Sacred Easter

Easter in our home always starts the same way: church first.
Because Easter isn’t just another holiday on the calendar—it’s the whole reason we celebrate.
Jesus is risen. He’s alive. And that truth changes everything.
Before the baskets, before the brunch, before the egg hunts, we start by remembering what this day is truly about: the empty tomb, the greatest sacrifice, and the deepest love we will ever know.
Everything else is just extra—and sweet—but that is the heart of Easter.
Easter Morning: Cinnamon Rolls & Cozy Chaos

Easter morning in our house smells like cinnamon and coffee.
Now listen—I would love to be the mom who wakes up before sunrise and makes homemade cinnamon rolls from scratch. Maybe one day. But today is not that day.
Instead, we use Rhodes Cinnamon Rolls. I let them thaw overnight in the fridge, and in the morning, I just pop those babies in the oven.
They’re warm, gooey, and close enough to homemade for us.
And honestly? That’s what Nourished, Not Perfect looks like.
It’s choosing what works. It’s choosing peace over performance. It’s choosing presence over perfection.
Easter Decor: There Are No Rules
Let’s talk Easter decorating—because everyone does it differently, and that’s exactly how it should be.
Some people love bunnies everywhere. Plush ones. Ceramic ones. Ones holding carrots. Ones holding eggs. If that’s you—GO FOR IT. It’s your own dang house.
For me? I lean more toward a spring vibe.
I love soft colors, fresh florals, light textures, and little touches that feel more seasonal than themed. Think less “Easter aisle explosion” and more “fresh, happy, airy.”
I usually focus on:
🌸 The dining table
🌸 A simple centerpiece
🌸 The entryway
🌸 A few pops of pastel
Nothing crazy. Nothing overwhelming. Just enough to make the house feel refreshed and special.
And let’s be honest—I find most of my decor at Hobby Lobby. Duh.
If I see it and it feels like spring, I grab it. No rules. No pressure. No specific aesthetic to follow.
Because that’s the thing—there is no right way to decorate.
Your home should feel like you.
If that means bunnies everywhere—do it.If that means neutral florals—do it. If that means no decor at all—also fine.
Our Simple Easter Baskets
We keep Easter baskets really simple and intentional.
Each person in our family has a reusable basket that we store in a plastic tote in the attic for the rest of the year. No buying new baskets every spring—just reuse what we already have.
Inside each basket, we do:
🌸 One new outfit or clothing item
🌸 One outdoor toy or game (chalk, bubbles, football, golf balls, etc.)
🌸 One small fun surprise (chapstick, sunglasses, Legos, makeup, etc.)
That’s it.
No overflowing baskets. No excessive candy. Just thoughtful, useful, and fun.
Our Favorite Egg Tradition

A few days before Easter, we boil eggs and use a Egg-mazing decorator—and it is a family favorite.
Truly. We love it.
It’s messy, colorful, and so much fun. Everyone gets involved, and we always end up laughing.
And any eggs that crack during decorating? Those get turned into deviled eggs for Easter brunch.
Nothing wasted. Everything loved.
After Church: Brunch Time
After church, it’s time for Easter brunch.
We don’t aim for fancy—we aim for filling and fun.
Our usual menu includes:
🥩 Picanha (our favorite cut of steak)
🥚 Deviled eggs
🧀 Mac and cheese
🥗 A fresh salad
🥖 Rolls
🍰 Cheesecake
And sometimes we add in other traditional Easter sides like:
Hash brown casserole
Green Beans
Fruit salad
Honey-glazed ham
It’s a mix of tradition and what we love most.
Coordinating Outfits… Or Not
Yes, we sometimes do coordinating outfits.
And yes… it is a headache.
Is it cute? Sure.Is it worth the stress? Honestly, probably not.
If you love matching outfits—go for it. If it stresses you out—skip it.
Totally fine either way.
You get to choose what matters most to you.
The Egg Hunt (Important PSA)
While the kids change out of their church clothes, we hide the eggs.
Important note: NOT REAL EGGS.
Ask me how I know. 😅
Real eggs that go unfound leave a smell that haunts your house for days… maybe weeks. It’s not the vibe.
We use plastic eggs, filled mostly with coins and a few with candy.
We reuse the same eggs every year—and even add in extras from any Easter egg hunts we attend.
No need to rebuy every season.
The Best Part: Outside Time
After the egg hunt, we try to spend as much time outside as possible.
Fresh air. Bare feet. Chalk on the driveway. Football in the yard. Bubbles floating everywhere.
It’s simple. It’s sweet. It’s grounding.
And honestly? It’s my favorite part.
Why Simple Works
Easter doesn’t have to be extravagant to be meaningful.
It doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect.
It doesn’t have to be exhausting.
It just has to be intentional.
The cinnamon rolls. The reused baskets. The decorated eggs. The outdoor play. The church pew. The empty tomb.
That’s Easter.
A Gentle Reminder
You don’t need to do it all.
You don’t need to impress anyone.
You don’t need to make everything from scratch.
Pick what feels special.Let the rest go.
Jesus already did the most.
And that’s what we’re celebrating.
Happy Easter 🤍
