All Things Fall (and Our Low-Key Halloween Traditions)

I love fall. Like… really love fall.
But I’m going to be honest—Halloween has always been a little creepy to me. Not in a dramatic way, just in a not-my-favorite-holiday way. I love seeing the costumes, walking the neighborhood, watching kids light up—but I’m not usually the one hosting a big Halloween bash.
And that’s okay. Did you hear what I said? THAT IS OKAY.
For us, Halloween is more about community than chaos. We’ve been so lucky to live in really friendly, close-knit neighborhoods, and one of my favorite parts of Halloween is what happens after trick-or-treating.
We walk the neighborhood, admire the decorations, collect the candy—and then we come home and hang out in the driveway (or the neighbor’s driveway), talking, laughing, and soaking in the night.
No big party. No pressure. Just connection.
Let’s Talk Halloween Candy (Because Why Is It $25?!)

Why is a bag of candy twenty-five dollars now??
Truly, who decided that?
Every year, I grab Airheads from Sam’s Club.
They’re:✔️ Affordable ✔️ A big hit with kids ✔️ Easy to pass out ✔️ Not messy
This year, someone in our neighborhood handed out foam glow sticks that changed colors, and I was obsessed. The kids were losing their minds over them—and honestly, so were the adults.
It was such a fun, simple idea that felt way more exciting than candy.
Our Favorite Fall Activities
Fall is where I really shine.

This is my season.
Some of our must-do traditions:
🎃 Pumpkin patch🔥 Bonfires🍫 S’mores🍲 Chili nights
🥣 Crockpot soup s🍎 Apple picking 🌽 Corn mazes
🍁 Nature walks🎨 Pumpkin carving or painting🕯️ Cozy movie nights📚 Reading by the fire
I love activities that don’t require a lot of planning but still feel special.
Fall Decor: Cozy, Neutral, and Warm
When it comes to fall decorating, I don’t love super bright or super themed decor. I lean more cozy than kitschy.
My fall color palette is:🍂 Greys🍂 Browns🍂 Burnt oranges🍂 Soft neutrals
I want my house to feel warm, inviting, and calm—not like a Halloween aisle exploded.
Where I Shop:
🧡 Hobby Lobby – for seasonal decor, florals, pumpkins, and neutral fall accents🛋️ Marshalls & TJ Maxx – for throw pillows and the softest blankets known to man
I am absolutely obsessed with fall pillows and blankets. Like… I might have a problem.
But if being surrounded by soft blankets is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
Here are some Amazon favorites I have too!
Low-Key Halloween, Our Way
We don’t usually host people on Halloween—and that works for us.
I love:• Walking the neighborhood• Seeing everyone’s decorations• Watching kids show off their costumes• Talking with neighbors• Hanging out afterward
It feels more like community than chaos.
And I think it’s important to say:You don’t have to host. You don’t have to throw a party. You don’t have to do it all.
If your favorite Halloween looks like a quiet night in—great. If your favorite Halloween is a big bash—great.
There is no right way.
Fall Food = Comfort Food
Fall food is unmatched.
Some of our favorites:
🍲 Chili🥣 Chicken noodle soup🍛 White chicken chili🥖 Bread bowls🧀 Grilled cheese🥧 Pumpkin bread🍪 Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies🍎 Apple crisp🍁 Cinnamon rolls
Basically: warm, cozy, and carb-heavy.
And I will not apologize.
